Since its establishment in 1964, BCIT has provided a prestigious two-year Diploma in Civil Engineering. Like all thriving academic programs, it has continuously adapted over its five-decade history to keep pace with advancements in engineering and construction, while maintaining contemporary professional standards.
Currently, the Civil Engineering Diploma represents one of two credentials offered through BCIT's Civil Engineering program, awarded upon finishing the initial two years of study. Students then have the option to begin their professional journey as Civil Engineering Technologists or pursue further education toward a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering. Qualified candidates can continue their studies either through BCIT's B.Eng. in Civil Engineering program or at other institutions across Canada.
Civil Engineering Technologists play a vital role in engineering teams, participating in the planning, design, and construction of various projects including municipal infrastructure, housing developments, commercial structures, transportation networks, and environmental initiatives. Numerous alumni have built rewarding careers as technologists, with industry demand for these professionals remaining consistently high.
