Social Service Workers play a vital role in driving meaningful change within communities. These professionals establish and nurture connections with individuals, families, groups, and organizations while addressing systemic injustices. They deliver direct support services and connect people with essential resources to enhance quality of life across personal, cultural, and systemic dimensions. Operating in various residential and community environments, they collaborate with diverse specialists including child and youth workers, addiction counselors, educators, healthcare providers, and mental health professionals.

This four-semester program combines classroom instruction during the first three terms with an intensive field placement in the final semester. The curriculum incorporates hands-on learning experiences such as: Developing interviewing and group facilitation techniques for client engagement, assessment, and support; Organizing campus and community initiatives including awareness campaigns and social change projects; Researching methods to combat oppression and enhance social service programs; Implementing self-care practices for sustained professional effectiveness.

The culminating fourth-semester placement offers comprehensive practical experience in a professional setting, with agency selection determined through collaboration between students, faculty, and available community partners.
