For those passionate about culinary arts, nutrition management, and guiding others, Fanshawe's Nutrition and Food Service Management program can help you emerge as an industry leader. This two-year Ontario College Diploma caters to culinary enthusiasts seeking deeper nutritional knowledge and individuals pursuing careers in healthcare food services.Students master large-scale food preparation, therapeutic diets, leadership development, financial operations, and personnel management. The curriculum equips learners to deliver wholesome meals in diverse settings including healthcare institutions, senior living communities, medical centers, educational facilities, and catering operations.
Develop leadership capabilities under experienced instructors with expertise in nutritional science, menu development, culinary operations, and team management. Acquire practical skills through two five-week internships collaborating with nutrition service teams at partner organizations.This distinctive program awards dual qualifications. After the first year, students earn a Culinary Skills certificate, followed by a Nutrition and Food Services Management diploma upon graduation. The program also prepares students for additional foodservice industry certifications.The comprehensive curriculum covers culinary operations, food safety protocols, therapeutic meal planning, financial management, and staff relations. Hands-on learning occurs through two industry placements with professionals.Qualified graduates may continue their education through our pathway to Brescia University College's Nutrition and Dietetics specialization at Western University, a prerequisite for dietetic internships.This CSNM-accredited program enables graduates to obtain professional membership - mandatory for Ontario healthcare foodservice positions. Students may apply for CSNM's National Scholarship Program, with three of our students having received this national honor to date.Career opportunities span healthcare institutions, senior care facilities, educational foodservices, government agencies, and hospitality sectors. Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), or equivalent, or a mature applicant with the following courses:
- Grade 12 English (C or U)
- Grade 11 Math (C, M or U)
Applicants whose first language is not English will be required to demonstrate proficiency in English by one of the following methods:
TOEFL iBT: 79
IELTS: Academic    Overall score of 6.0 with no score less than 5.5 in any of the four bands
CAEL: Overall score of 60 with no score less than 50 in any of the four bands. score of 80 in listening
PTE Academic: 53
Cambridge English: Overall score of 169 with no language skill less than 162
ESL4/GAP5: Minimum grade of 80% in Level 8, 75% in Level 9, or 70% in Level 10
Duolingo: Overall score of 105, with no score lower than 95
