Fires can occur without warning in any location, bringing destructive outcomes. Comprehensive education forms the core of all fire prevention efforts. Fanshawe's three-year advanced diploma program in Fire Inspection and Fire Safety Education, Canada's pioneering initiative, equips you with critical skills to safeguard lives and property by preventing fires before they ignite.
Your fire inspector training will cover all aspects from regulatory enforcement to public awareness initiatives. As you work toward your fire inspector certification, our fire prevention course will help you grasp the expanding importance of fire prevention across both public and private sectors of the fire service industry.
Building upon fundamentals of fire science and mathematics, you'll examine an extensive array of applicable codes and laws, including the Ontario Fire Code, Fire Protection and Prevention Act, Ontario Building Code, and Building Code Act. The fire prevention program further incorporates mentorship opportunities, allowing students to experience diverse fire service settings.
Our fire inspector program follows National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards, making graduates eligible to take NFPA certification exams for Ontario accreditation. Additionally, you'll qualify to complete the Ontario Building Code examinations necessary for certification as Building Officials under the Building Code Act.
