This program equips you with the essential knowledge and abilities to tackle two of Canada's most pressing healthcare concerns: mental health and addiction. You'll acquire both theoretical insights and practical clinical expertise to support clients through their mental health and/or addiction challenges as they progress toward recovery. Deliver client-focused motivational counseling, case management, assessments, and documentation while adhering to professional, ethical, and legal standards for culturally diverse individuals, families, and groups impacted by addiction and/or mental health conditions. Apply up-to-date intervention approaches tailored to individuals' family dynamics, gender, sexual identity, cultural background, and life stage. Incorporate wellness and lifestyle strategies for both self-care and client support in addiction and mental health contexts. Engage in professional practice with sensitivity toward diverse perspectives on the origins and characteristics of addiction, behavioral addictions, and mental health challenges.
