The School of Biomedical Engineering represents a partnership between the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Engineering. This program specializes in advancing biomedical device technology. Students earn degrees by focusing on a specific field through coursework, research projects, and mandatory thesis completion. Prospective students must specify their desired research focus during the application process.
You may be accepted into the PhD program in Biomedical Engineering from an accredited master's program in the physical sciences biological sciences or engineering. In such cases all of the requirements for entry into the MASc program must be satisfied. Additional courses may be required at the discretion of the School and depending on the nature of the research work to be undertaken.
If you are already in the MASc program you may transfer to a PhD program after you complete five half-classes and a successful PhD Transfer Examination.
