The Chemistry PhD program empowers you to advance your independent research in an interdisciplinary setting that bridges chemistry, biochemistry, and physics. You'll collaborate with distinguished faculty experts in fields like environmental chemistry, bionanoscience, and protein science to elevate your research. Our renowned research centers - the Centre for Research in Molecular Modelling (CERMM), the Centre for NanoScience Research (CeNSR), and the Centre for Biological Applications of Mass Spectrometry (CBAMS) - are celebrated for their outstanding research and training of top-tier professionals. Faculty members regularly publish in prestigious journals such as Nature and the Journal of the American Chemical Society, earning recognition from the Royal Society of Chemistry and the Canada Research Chairs Program.
Students wishing to enter the PhD program should hold an MSc degree or its equivalent from a recognized university.
Outstanding students who have maintained a grade point average of 3.5 or greater in their last two years of study and those with external scholarships (NSERC, CHIR, and FQRSC) may also apply to the PhD program directly from their BSc program. Evidence will be required that the applicant is capable of undertaking substantial original research.
