As an ecology student, you'll investigate how organisms interact with each other and their environment - including soil, air, water, and solar energy. This program equips you to: conduct ecological and evolutionary research, oversee natural resources, promote sustainable practices, advocate for biodiversity conservation, and safeguard our planet.

Our Biology Department offers cutting-edge facilities including computer labs and research laboratories featuring modern ecological analysis tools. With intimate class sizes, you'll develop close mentoring relationships with faculty. The Ecology curriculum builds upon core Biology courses with specialized ecology classes. Through hands-on labs, interactive lectures, and tutorials, you'll: Examine population dynamics including competitive, predatory, and parasitic relationships. Investigate evolutionary processes, ecological diversity, and organismal physiology and behavior. Gain practical skills in field research, molecular ecology, and statistical analysis. The optional Co-op program provides 12-16 week paid placements with industry partners, government research institutions, healthcare organizations, and academic institutions across Canada.
