This program explores how organisms interact with their surroundings, examining biodiversity, adaptations, and evolutionary processes. You'll develop core understanding of ecological and evolutionary principles across plants, animals, and microorganisms, studying various biological levels from individuals to ecosystems across different scales. The Bachelor of Science with Major offers extensive customization, featuring diverse study areas and the possibility to add a minor or second major. This adaptable structure enables students to combine two interests or concentrate on a single field, choosing between breadth or specialization. Students can select from 60 minor options, including numerous choices from Arts, Native Studies, Business, and Agricultural, Life & Environmental Sciences.

Qualification Requirements

English is the primary language of instruction in all Faculties except Facult Saint-Jean. All undergraduate applicants to any program or course except Facult Saint-Jean need an adequate level of English language proficiency before admission, regardless of their citizenship status or country of origin. The University of Alberta reserves the right to use discretion in determining adequate levels of language proficiency to ensure success in academic programs.
Graduation from a recognized degree program offered by an accredited university at which English is the primary language of instruction or in a country where English is the primary language.
A score of at least 90 on the TOEFL iBT (Test of English as a Foreign Language - Internet-based) with no less than 21 on each band.
A score of at least 6.5 on the IELTS Academic (International English Language Testing System) with no band less than 6.0.
A score of at least 70 on the Canadian Academic English Language assessment: CAEL (paper) or CAEL CE (computer) with no band less than 60.
