Develop into a multifaceted performer with a broad skill set, prepared to tackle diverse roles and theatrical genres.
Start by mastering foundational acting techniques including script analysis (scene and monologue study), physicality, vocal projection, character development, and group performance. Simultaneously, evolve into a complete theatre practitioner by learning dramaturgy/script evaluation, creative collaboration, theatrical heritage and concepts, and basic stage design principles.
Advance through the curriculum to discover specialized methods like fight choreography, Biomechanics for theatre, Viewpoints technique, vocal performance, accent work, and on-camera audition skills. Transition from psychologically grounded acting methods to expansive physical and avant-garde performance approaches. Showcase your developing talents in productions featuring both modern masterpieces and classical works. You'll also get to devise and present original performances.
During your studies, connect with Montreal's vibrant theatre community and broader professional networks. Potential internships include placements with renowned institutions like the Segal Centre, Centaur Theatre, Geordie Theatre, and Bread and Puppet Theater. International experiences may include exchange programs or specialized workshops, with recent offerings covering Beijing opera training and experimental theatre studies in Germany.
Upon graduation, you'll possess a defined artistic voice. You'll understand your creative passions and narrative interests, equipped with the technical proficiency, self-assurance, and creative boldness to launch your professional journey.
