As an anthropologist, you explore the concept of personhood across Canada and globally. Through methodical observation and analysis of cultural practices in various societies, you'll recognize how many aspects we consider innate are actually shaped by cultural influences.
When you learn that family structures, artistic expressions, political systems, and economic models can vary widely, your understanding of human identity broadens. Our curriculum explores concepts of selfhood, examines cross-cultural research initiatives, and applies anthropological approaches to diverse regions—from Africa to the Middle East or the Caribbean—and topics ranging from healthcare to gender studies or mythology.
We're recognized for fostering student involvement in research at local, national, and international levels. You'll develop independent projects while collaborating on faculty-led research. Anthropology cultivates analytical abilities that prepare you for thoughtful decision-making in any career path. Our Co-op program enables high-achieving students to transition between academic and professional environments through paid work placements. Co-op participants graduate with enhanced job-seeking abilities, refined interpersonal skills, and valuable work experience equivalent to one year in the field.
