Carleton University's Sociology graduate programs have held national prominence since the master's program was first established in the 1960s. Our graduate studies primarily examine the structure and evolution of modern societies through comparative analysis, with special emphasis on Canadian society. A distinctive aspect of our programs is their student-focused approach. We firmly believe students should shape their graduate education to best meet their individual needs. Additionally, we provide a specialized track in Quantitative Methodology.
The climate emergency represents the most urgent challenge facing humanity today, and how we respond will shape our collective future. This intricate, multidimensional problem demands cooperative solutions across disciplines including humanities, sciences, engineering, business, and public policy.

This distinctive Specialization leverages Carleton's established expertise and its globally-recognized climate researchers from multiple faculties, offering a comprehensive, interdisciplinary program that meets growing student interest in this field. By collaborating with professors and peers from diverse academic backgrounds, students in this Specialization will investigate climate change's systemic dimensions, including its effects and potential mitigation strategies across ecosystems, communities, and governance structures, while exploring cooperative approaches to tackle this worldwide crisis.
