You'll analyze how societal perceptions of gender influence the awareness and experiences of individuals across different racial, ethnic, socioeconomic, and sexual orientation backgrounds. You'll investigate the varied historical narratives, intellectual achievements, and viewpoints of women.
Using analytical approaches from multiple academic fields, you'll critically assess gender's connection to social structures, belief systems, historical contexts, cultural expressions, interpersonal dynamics, scientific knowledge, physical forms, and societal norms.
We emphasize a global feminist approach to understanding how gender interacts with various factors to shape the intricate realities of people's lives. All Brock University students can enroll in our courses to examine how gender identity evolves as a culturally specific and historically changing concept.
