Brock University stands as Ontario's sole institution providing a Master of Arts (MA) in Applied Disability Studies, with specializations available in Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) or Leadership, Diversity, Community, and Culture (LDCC). The ABA track's curriculum is approved by the Association for Behavior Analyst International, meeting the educational prerequisites for Board Certified Behavior Analyst® certification. Meanwhile, the LDCC specialization delivers advanced training in critical domains for professional growth within the disability field. Alongside academic coursework and practical internship experiences, the MA program mandates students to conduct original research and compose a thesis under faculty guidance. Admission to this rigorous program is highly selective, accepting only 6-10 new candidates annually across both specializations. This program primarily targets students aiming for research-oriented careers or planning to pursue doctoral studies.
Successful completion of four-year Bachelor's degree, or equivalent, in a related field (e.g., disability studies, applied behaviour analysis, psychology, sociology, social work, child studies, education) with a minimum average of 75% in the last two years of undergraduate studies and one or more undergraduate statistics courses (minimum 75% average). Applicants for the MA program are encouraged to examine the research interests and publications of the faculty and indicate their preference for possible research supervisor(s) in the letter of intent accompanying the application.
