Studying Fine Arts cultivates a broad worldview, enhances analytical reasoning and innovative problem-solving capabilities, and fosters communication abilities applicable across diverse settings both within and outside artistic disciplines. The program awards a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.), a flexible liberal arts degree that offers wider career options compared to the more specialized Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.). Graduates gain essential skills for professions such as education, artistic practice, museum curation, arts management, or art library science.
The foundational program is the Fine Arts major with a studio focus, offering undergraduate training that balances practical studio work with liberal arts studies. This Studio Concentration Major demands at least 48 credits (16 courses) distributed across three areas: Studio Practice (27 FIS credits), Art History (15 FIH credits), and Comparative Arts (6 FIN credits). High-achieving students may pursue an honours degree in studio art by completing additional coursework, which is particularly valuable for those considering graduate-level studies in the field.
