Assiniboine's one-year Civil Technician certificate program prepares students for entry-level technical roles across various civil engineering disciplines such as structural, municipal, highway and transportation engineering, water resources, geotechnical engineering, environmental protection, and infrastructure rehabilitation.
Civil technicians offer technical assistance to scientists, engineers, and other professionals, or may operate independently. Working as part of diverse teams, graduates collaborate with project stakeholders to help achieve civil engineering objectives while adhering to project plans, workplace safety protocols, sustainability principles, and all relevant laws, codes, industry standards, and ethical guidelines. Completing the one-year Civil Technician program serves as a foundation for advancing to the Civil Technology program with a Municipal Engineering specialization.
Program Learning Outcomes
Contribute to civil engineering project design and modeling by utilizing engineering concepts, fundamental technical mathematics, and scientific principles when reviewing and creating project plans.
