This two-year Ontario College Diploma in Fitness and Health Promotion equips students to serve as professional fitness and health advisors, capable of designing, marketing, and implementing comprehensive services. These encompass both physical activity initiatives and educational programs aimed at improving the wellness, physical condition, and overall quality of life for individuals and communities across various environments.
Throughout the program, students acquire essential competencies for maintaining an active, healthy way of living, enabling them to effectively guide others in reaching their personal wellness objectives. The curriculum prepares graduates to address the changing needs of today's multifaceted fitness, wellness, and health promotion industry.
Practical work placements form a crucial component of the program, offering real-world experience. These diverse internship opportunities let students implement classroom learning in professional settings while connecting with potential employers, ultimately enhancing their career prospects and job readiness upon completing their studies.
Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent. Applicants with an OSSD showing senior English and/or Mathematics courses at the Basic Level, or with Workplace or Open courses, will be tested to determine their eligibility for admission; OR
Academic and Career Entrance (ACE) certificate; OR
General Educational Development (GED) certificate; OR
Mature Student status (19 years of age or older and without a high school diploma at the start of the program).
Applicants with International transcripts must provide proof of the subject specific requirements noted above along with proof of either: IELTS-International English Language Testing Service-Overall band of 6.5 with a minimum of 6.0 in each band; OR TOEFL-Internet-based (iBT)-overall 88, with the minimum of 22 in each component: Reading 22; Listening: 22; Speaking: 22; Writing: 22.
Deadline: Applications for Fall Term and Winter Term admission received by February 1 will be given equal consideration.
