Fiber arts offer immersive studio opportunities for material exploration through both specialized and interdisciplinary methods. You could concentrate on surface patterns, mixed media, or textile weaving to create innovative artistic pieces. Develop insights into your practice and how it relates to other fields, historical contexts, and modern material culture. Advanced thematic courses enable independent exploration of subjects pertinent to current fiber applications in art, craft, and design. Senior students are supported in developing studio research that reflects their academic and creative aspirations. The Fiber program fosters hands-on investigation in surface design, weaving, and mixed media techniques. All courses emphasize contemporary approaches and individual artistic voice. This minor particularly benefits students investigating hybrid creative processes where fiber techniques serve as conceptual foundations.
