From the resurgence of humanist ideals during the Renaissance onward, universities have positioned historical and political studies as fundamental to understanding human nature.
The History and Political Thought major centers on four core units that guide students through humanity's modern history (post-1500). While European history features prominently, students will examine it alongside developments in Asia, Africa, and the Americas.
This program concludes with a capstone unit in the final semester, focusing on historical theories and methodologies. Students can choose from diverse electives spanning European, American, Australian, and Asian history and political philosophy, including thematic courses that traverse different eras and regions.
