The UOW Bachelor of Mathematics Education prepares you to become a secondary school mathematics educator while enhancing both your subject expertise and teaching abilities. Throughout the program, you'll engage in substantial practical training, gaining hands-on classroom experience through observation and application. The degree offers potential opportunities for teaching placements in rural or international settings, overseas study with UOW's global partners, and participation in cultural exchange initiatives. As mathematics forms the foundation of numerous scientific and business fields, educating future mathematicians demands specialized training. This program combines mathematical study with pedagogical techniques for effective instruction. Annually, UOW awards up to five scholarships to incoming students who achieve an ATAR exceeding 80 and demonstrate strong performance in Advanced Mathematics or equivalent qualifications.

Admission to the Dean's Scholar degree is competitive. Applicants need to have achieved the required score in a qualification equivalent to the completion of 13 years of schooling in Australia. A teaching questionnaire will also need to be completed as part of the application. In order to succeed in your chosen course, it is assumed you have completed relevant subjects in your senior high school studies or other relevant qualifications. This is particularly important for degrees which have a strong basis in Mathematics or Science
