Environmental engineers primarily focus on safeguarding ecosystems and their relationship with human activities and development projects. Their role centers on creating technical solutions for ecological challenges affecting soil, water, and atmospheric conditions, while promoting sustainability. This field addresses diverse environmental issues such as water purity and availability, groundwater conservation and restoration, sewage processing, air contamination control (both indoor and outdoor), management of solid and toxic waste, ensuring potable water access, rehabilitating polluted areas, protecting vulnerable wetlands, and minimizing pollution through innovative product and system designs.
Applicants need to have achieved the required score in a qualification equivalent to the completion of 13 years of schooling in Australia.
In order to succeed in your chosen course, it is assumed you have completed relevant subjects in your senior high school studies or other relevant qualifications. This is particularly important for degrees which have a strong basis in Mathematics or Science.
