The Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) represents the University's premier research program, available across all academic disciplines where suitable supervision and facilities exist. This degree involves independent, guided research evaluated exclusively through an externally assessed thesis, occasionally incorporating creative elements. A PhD thesis must offer significant and novel scholarly contributions, showcasing both expertise in the chosen field and advancement of knowledge within that domain.
As the highest academic achievement, a PhD certifies the holder as an internationally recognized researcher. The program consists of an independent research project developed collaboratively between the student, advisor, department head, and the Graduate Research School Board. Candidates may pursue this degree within any of the University's academic departments.
