The Honors program in Classics and Ancient History blends coursework with an independent research project or dissertation, with equal weight given to both. The coursework involves four seminar modules, each focusing on a specific text, historical era, or analytical approach. You'll collaborate in intimate groups led by specialists—an intellectually demanding yet rewarding experience that bridges undergraduate studies and self-directed research. For the dissertation, you'll explore an extended research project under close faculty guidance, receiving support in topic selection and regular progress reviews. This experience often inspires students to pursue advanced degrees, while others leverage these skills in diverse fields like education, business, government, or arts and cultural organizations.
