This program provides non-law graduates with knowledge of legal and regulatory systems relevant to their professional fields.
Participants come from diverse career backgrounds including insurance, HR, banking, finance, and education, occupying positions where legal understanding is essential. The curriculum covers criminal law, ethics, contracts, torts, and constitutional law. Elective options allow students to develop specialized legal knowledge in compliance, intellectual property law, and other focus areas.
Career Opportunities
The course especially advantages accountants, auditors, business development managers, compliance officers, engineers, architects, financial advisors, IT specialists, law enforcement personnel, paralegals, policy officers across public, private and nonprofit sectors, property developers, and public sector managers (particularly those in DFAT, Communications and IT departments, Attorney-General's office, and Treasury).
Applicants must have completed a UTS recognised bachelor's degree, or an equivalent or higher qualification, or submitted other evidence of general and professional qualifications that demonstrates potential to pursue graduate studies.
An applicant's bachelor's degree must be in a discipline other than law.
The English proficiency requirement for international students or local applicants with international qualifications is: Academic IELTS: 6.5 overall with a writing score of 6.0; or TOEFL: paper based: 550-583 overall with TWE of 4.5, internet based: 79-93 overall with a writing score of 21; or AE5: Pass; or PTE: 58-64 with a writing score of 50; or C1A/C2P: 176-184 with a writing score of 169.
