This degree can be granted to students who finish a personalized program of guided research and present a thesis documenting their findings. Projects fostering collaboration with industry are particularly encouraged, with most current students working on employer-backed initiatives. The program enables working engineers to thoroughly address complex engineering challenges that exceed undergraduate-level capabilities. While emphasizing applied research and development, the faculty also welcomes and supports fundamental research proposals.
Graduates may pursue careers in universities and research institutions, including teaching roles. Research and development positions are also available with domestic and international companies.
Applicants must have completed a UTS recognised bachelor's degree, or an equivalent or higher qualification, or submitted other evidence of general and professional qualifications that demonstrates potential to pursue graduate research studies.
