Choose from Exercise and Sports Science Australia (ESSA) accredited majors in Exercise Science or Exercise Therapy, with pathways to the esteemed UTS Master of Clinical Exercise Physiology, Master of High Performance Sport or Master of Physiotherapy program. Pathways: If you complete the Exercise Therapy major (MAJ06234)*, your entry into to the UTS Master of Physiotherapy (C04306) is guaranteed subject to maintaining a credit average (GPA of 5.0 and above) and a successful internal interview. Completing the Exercise Science or Flexible major also pathway into the Master of Physiotherapy, via a competitive process. Completion of the UTS Master of Physiotherapy leads to eligibility for registration as a physiotherapist in Australia.

Completing the Exercise Therapy or Exercise Science major provides you the opportunity to apply for the UTS Master of Clinical Exercise Physiology. This enables registration with ESSA as an Accredited Exercise Physiologist (AEP).

The UTS Master of High Performance Sport may be applied for upon completion of any Sport and Exercise major.

The course provides students with a strong understanding of the processes and mechanisms underlying sport and exercise science, and with the knowledge and skills necessary to manage and plan sport and exercise activities in health, exercise science, sport, event and exercise therapy contexts. Both the Exercise Science and Exercise Therapy major in the Bachelor of Sport and Exercise Science degree are accredited with Exercise and Sports Science Australia (ESSA). Completion of these majors enables Exercise Science accreditation and focuses on the assessment, prescription and delivery of exercise to apparently healthy people.

Students who complete the Exercise Therapy major (not available to international students) are guaranteed entry to the UTS Master of Physiotherapy subject to maintaining a credit average (GPA of 5.0 and above) and a successful internal interview. The Master of Physiotherapy leads to eligibility for registration as a physiotherapist in Australia.

This course aims to provide you with the necessary skills to acquire initial employment in the human movement field, as well as the analytical skills necessary for critical appraisal of developments in the field.

You must complete at least 144 credit points over 24 subjects. You choose four electives or a major, appropriate to your chosen career, to complement the core subjects in the degree.

Qualification Requirements

Applicants must have completed an Australian Year 12 qualification, Australian Qualifications Framework Diploma, or equivalent Australian or overseas qualification at the required level.

Students must apply through UAC to enrol in the course or specifically in the Exercise Therapy major (MAJ06234) (different UAC codes apply).

The Bachelor of Sport and Exercise Science (Exercise Therapy major) is NOT offered to non-recent school leaver applicants.

Eligibility for admission does not guarantee offer of a place.
