The Master of Professional Engineering is a practice-oriented master's degree that provides specializations in Civil and Structural Engineering, Electronics and Communications, Mechanical Engineering, Renewable Energy and Electrical Power, as well as Timber Design. This program is designed for graduates holding a bachelor's degree in civil or mechanical engineering from non-Washington Accord institutions, those with engineering degrees in other disciplines, or science graduates with strong quantitative skills. The curriculum and evaluation framework are structured to help students attain Engineers Australia's Stage 1 Competencies while demonstrating AQF Level 9 knowledge and skills. Program Learning Outcomes Include: Developing well-supported solutions for modern engineering challenges using both traditional and innovative analytical approaches. Creating engineering components, systems, and processes in collaboration with communities while addressing technical, ethical, legal, and resource constraints. Overseeing engineering projects through their entire lifecycle by applying local expertise and professional decision-making. Sharing research findings from local engineering initiatives with both professional and academic communities.
A Bachelor degree in a science based discipline with sufficient numerical skills to undertake the MProfEng (Specialisation) course; or
A Bachelor degree in Engineering (Non-Washington Accord) or
A Bachelor degree in Engineering majoring in a different specialisation than that to be undertaken under the MProfEng (Specialisation).
Admission to most postgraduate coursework courses at the University of Tasmania require qualifications equivalent to an Australian bachelor degree.

PTE Academic 50 with no score lower than 50
UTAS Access-English Level 7 - 60% (no individual score less than 60%)
Cambridge CAE (Certificate of Advanced English) - B Grade
Cambridge CPE (Certificate of Proficiency in English) - C Grade
Cambridge BEC (Business English Certificate) Higher - C Grade.
