The Bachelor of Arts with Honours program provides students who have earned a Bachelor of Arts degree the opportunity to pursue an additional year of specialized study. This advanced coursework deepens expertise in a chosen field, preparing graduates for professional careers or further academic pursuits like Master's or Doctoral degrees. Honours graduates will gain sophisticated understanding of core theories and methodologies within Humanities or Social Sciences disciplines, along with research competencies. This intensive program spans one year full-time (or two consecutive years part-time, subject to School approval) and is offered at both Hobart and Launceston campuses. Through the Bachelor of Arts with Honours, you will acquire the ability to: Exhibit comprehensive mastery of fundamental theories and research methodologies across humanities and social science disciplines; Critically analyze, synthesize, and contextualize sociocultural, political, ethical, and environmental issues from diverse local and global perspectives; Effectively communicate specialized knowledge to both expert and general audiences through various media; Apply professional judgment in problem-solving, decision-making, and scholarly work; Conduct independent research projects within humanities/social science fields; Develop adaptable workplace skills including self-direction, creativity, and resilience.
Completion a Bachelor of Arts, or another approved Bachelor degree, in this University or another approved tertiary institution with a weighted average of 70% or higher, in the 200 and 300 level units forming a major in the proposed Honours discipline of study.
Most of our undergraduate programs have the following English language requirements.
IELTS (Academic) - 6.0 (no individual band less than 5.5)
TOEFL (iBT) 72 (no skill below: Reading 10; Listening 9; Speaking 16; Writing 19)
PTE Academic 50 with no score lower than 42
UTAS Access-English Level 6 - 60% (no individual score less than 55%)
Cambridge CAE (Certificate of Advanced English) - B Grade
Cambridge CPE (Certificate of Proficiency in English) - C Grade
Cambridge BEC (Business English Certificate) Higher - C Grade
