The Master of Creative Writing is a graduate-level program designed to strengthen your professional writing capabilities, with emphasis on crafting, organizing, and refining various written forms including fiction, nonfiction, and poetry.
The curriculum includes required courses covering creative writing foundations and research methods, along with elective options from across the University, including two specialized workshop courses.
The program culminates with a capstone experience where you'll develop a substantial creative thesis or final project.
Admission to candidature for the Master of Creative Writing (1.5 years full-time) requires:
a bachelor's degree with a minimum credit (65%) average calculated over the whole degree, from the University of Sydney, including a major in a relevant subject area in the humanities or social sciences, or an equivalent qualification; or
completion of the requirements for the embedded Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma in Creative Writing with a minimum credit (65%) average, or an equivalent qualification.
Admission to candidature for the Master of Creative Writing (1 year full-time) requires:
an Honours degree in a relevant discipline; or
relevant professional work experience and a bachelor's degree with a minimum credit (65%) average or an equivalent qualification.
IELTS score: A minimum result of 7.0 overall including a minimum result of 6.0 in Reading, Listening and Speaking and 7.0 in Writing; TOEFL - IBT score: A minimum result of 96 overall including a minimum result of 17 in Reading, Listening and Speaking and 25 in Writing; Pearsons Test of English: A minimum result of 68 overall including a minimum result of 54 in Reading, Listening and Speaking and 68 in Writing
