Anatomy and histology explores the structure of living organisms. Your journey begins with examining cellular structures (histology), fundamental mammalian biology tissues, and musculoskeletal anatomy. Advanced studies are organized into four specialized areas: topographical anatomy (focusing on bones, muscles, nerves, and blood vessels); neuroanatomy (exploring the nervous system's structure); histology (investigating microscopic cellular and tissue structures); and embryology (tracking development from fertilization to fetal stage). Practical dissection forms part of this learning experience.
Graduates specializing in anatomy and histology find opportunities in academic institutions, CSIRO, healthcare facilities, and pathology labs, frequently specializing in electron microscopy or histochemistry. Many alumni have also pursued teaching careers or entered the scientific equipment sector.
