The Bachelor of Political, Economic and Social Sciences (Honours) is a rigorous one-year program focused on advanced research. Participants attend seminar courses while developing and writing an extensive thesis under the guidance of a specialized supervisor. Unlike standard undergraduate degrees that offer broad exposure to multiple disciplines, the honours year allows students to deeply explore their major subject area through original research. This program serves as both a foundation for graduate studies and a crowning achievement of undergraduate education. For some, honours represents the pinnacle of their academic journey, enhancing critical thinking, research, and communication skills while developing project management abilities. For others, it marks the beginning of a research-focused career path.
The Government and International Relations specialization provides in-depth examination of political and international affairs. Students complete two advanced coursework units spanning domestic, comparative, and global politics, along with a research design component that prepares them for their dissertation project. Each student collaborates with an academic supervisor to determine their research focus, drawing on the faculty member's expertise in the chosen field. This specialization is open to students who have majored in Politics, Politics and International Relations, or International Relations.
