The Associate Degree in Arts is a two-year full-time program (or part-time equivalent) that enables you to analyze human culture and behavior through diverse lenses across different eras. You'll examine contemporary societal challenges while developing skills to contribute to humanity's social and economic progress, or engage deeply with creative expression, performance, and innovative thinking. This qualification offers multiple pathways: it can serve as the foundation for a Bachelor of Arts, allow you to specialize in two BA majors, or encourage interdisciplinary exploration across various fields. With access to more than twenty potential majors and minors from the Bachelor of Arts program plus numerous elective choices, the Associate Degree provides adaptable options to broaden your expertise across multiple disciplines.
The International Relations specialization addresses pressing issues in our interconnected world. This major equips you with analytical frameworks to comprehend and influence contemporary global affairs. First-year studies introduce the key players, organizations, and concepts shaping international politics. Advanced coursework in subsequent years delves into critical areas including global security systems, international legal frameworks, human rights advocacy, China's geopolitical influence, and worldwide economic systems. Through this program, you'll cultivate valuable competencies in cross-national research, complex system evaluation, and independent academic writing and presentation. Admission to undergraduate courses at the University of Tasmania requires the completion of qualifications equivalent to a 12th year of education in Australia.
Most of our undergraduate programs have the following English language requirements.
IELTS (Academic) - 6.0 (no individual band less than 5.5)
TOEFL (iBT) 72 (no skill below: Reading 10; Listening 9; Speaking 16; Writing 19)
PTE Academic 50 with no score lower than 42
UTAS Access-English Level 6 - 60% (no individual score less than 55%)
Cambridge CAE (Certificate of Advanced English) - B Grade
Cambridge CPE (Certificate of Proficiency in English) - C Grade
Cambridge BEC (Business English Certificate) Higher - C Grade
