The fourth-year honors program includes an American Studies seminar, another seminar selected from American-focused upper-level courses in English, Film Studies, Government and International Relations, or History, plus an 18,000-20,000 word thesis.

Earning honors in American Studies provides a competitive advantage, allowing you to develop specialized knowledge in a particular field. First or second-class honors also creates excellent opportunities for pursuing PhD studies.

Qualification Requirements

To qualify for admission to honours students need to have completed a major in the intended subject area with an average of 70% or above. Some departments and programs have additional criteria, including advanced senior units of study designed to prepare students for the challenges of fourth year study.

IELTS - A minimum result of 6.5 overall and a minimum result of 6.0 in each band
TOEFL IBT - A minimum result of 85 overall including a minimum result of 17 in Reading, Listening and Speaking and 19 in Writing
