With over 400 million speakers, Spanish ranks as the world's third most widely spoken language and serves as the official tongue across 21 nations in Europe, the Americas, and Africa. Learning Spanish provides you with comprehensive linguistic skills, an understanding of its social and academic applications, and the ability to analyze historical and current political, social, and cultural aspects of Spanish-speaking societies.
Through courses focusing on both language and culture, you'll investigate modern and contemporary cultural expressions; analyze significant literary, cinematic, intellectual movements and works across various media; and critically examine issues surrounding race, ethnicity, class, sexuality, gender, and social movements. Your learning experience includes interactive methods like group activities, role-playing, creative projects, online assessments, discussions, along with traditional evaluations such as tests, exams, and written assignments.
Our academic exchange initiatives with institutions in Spain and Latin America enrich your education by providing immersive cultural experiences in these regions.
Learners will progress through tailored pathways outlined in the unit of study tables, determined by their individual proficiency. Those completing any pathway for a major will graduate with a degree in Spanish and Latin American Studies.
