The Master of Occupational Health and Safety Science program caters to science, engineering, health science, or related discipline graduates who possess foundational knowledge in chemistry and biology at the tertiary level.
Over 1.5 years of full-time study (or part-time equivalent), you'll undertake 10 core courses plus an elective tailored to your professional aspirations.
The program emphasizes practical application of theoretical knowledge, industry networking, and developing research autonomy through either a single or dual-semester industry research project.
Students gain hands-on experience through part-time workplace placements while learning to conceptualize, execute, evaluate, and present findings from occupational health and safety research initiatives.
Graduates emerge prepared for diverse career opportunities across multiple sectors - including mining, agriculture, retail, hospitality, construction, transportation, manufacturing, healthcare, government, private enterprises, and consulting - both domestically and internationally.
Bachelor degree in science, engineering, health science, or an approved discipline; with approved tertiary level background in chemistry and biology.
UQ or equivalent GPA of 4 or above on a 7 point scale.
English Proficiency
IELTS overall 6.5; reading 6; writing 6; speaking 6; listening 6. For other English Language Proficiency Tests and Scores approved for UQ TOEFL IBT - Overall 87, listening 19, reading 19, writing 21 and speaking 19. TOEFL PB - Overall 570, listening 54, reading 54, writing 59/5. Pearsons - Overall Score of 64 and 60 in all sub bands. BEP - A minimum overall grade of 4 plus a minimum grade of C in all macro skills. CES - Overall 176 and 169 in all sub bands. OET is not accepted.
