Earn an internationally accredited veterinary degree while gaining comprehensive medical expertise to diagnose and treat animals at our top-tier campus. The Bachelor of Veterinary Science (Honours) begins with three years of core training covering anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, nutrition, and animal behavior across domestic and wildlife species. This phase includes over 600 hours of hands-on practice, enhancing your animal handling techniques and deepening your understanding of pathology and diagnostics. The fourth year focuses on specialized medicine and surgery courses for key animal species, along with population health training and 130 hours of clinical rotations. Your final year features intensive, lecture-free training with over 1,400 hours of experience in university and private practice settings. The program cultivates vital clinical and professional skills, including communication, business acumen, and career development. Off-campus placements offer real-world clinical exposure, while UQ Gatton’s Small Animal Hospital and Equine Specialist Hospital provide essential practical training. Upon graduation, you'll be equipped for roles as a veterinary practitioner or opportunities in biosecurity, livestock management, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, or research within academic and government institutions.
