Embark on a rewarding journey to become a certified midwife, helping mothers, newborns, and families during one of life's most precious moments. This career path allows you to expertly assist expecting parents through pregnancy, delivery, and the postnatal period. The University of Queensland's Bachelor of Midwifery is a cutting-edge, highly regarded program designed collaboratively with patients, students, professional midwifery organizations, and healthcare partners. The curriculum blends traditional lectures, interactive problem-solving workshops, and hands-on clinical training, complemented by practical placements across diverse midwifery environments. Students complete over 1000 hours of guided clinical practice in hospitals and other healthcare facilities, including 20 comprehensive 'continuity of care' cases where you'll support a mother and her family from pregnancy through childbirth and beyond. During your final year, our specialized placement coordinators will organize your clinical rotation, enabling you to put theory into practice while refining your skills in authentic healthcare scenarios. Depending on availability and funding, you might secure placements beyond Brisbane or even internationally.
