Boost your professional value and career prospects by pursuing two degrees from one of Australia's top nursing and midwifery institutions. Envision the positive impact you could have on individuals of all ages, expectant mothers, newborns, and families through a dynamic and fulfilling career in nursing and midwifery. The University of Queensland's innovative dual degree program in Nursing and Midwifery adopts a story-based, patient-centered learning approach, blending practical experience across varied and evolving healthcare settings. This program connects academic knowledge with real-world application through diverse teaching techniques, such as narrative workshops, digital education, and clinical simulations. You'll combine theoretical learning with hands-on practice in multiple healthcare environments, completing over 1000 hours of supervised clinical placements in hospitals and other medical facilities. These hours include 10 'continuity of care' experiences spread throughout the program, where you'll support a woman and her family through pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum care. The program also offers exposure to cutting-edge healthcare approaches like telehealth. Students might have the chance to complete placements beyond Brisbane, with potential subsidized international opportunities depending on available funding.
