The Master of Philosophy (MPhil) program offers students a pathway to build research skills within a condensed period. This full-time program spans 1.5 years, while the part-time option extends to 3 years. Candidates must complete a minimum of 1 year and cannot exceed 2 years. The MPhil combines examinable coursework (18-24 Units of Credit) with a thesis (totaling 72 Units of Credit). Students typically select 3-4 specialized courses from their discipline's Coursework Masters offerings, subject to School approval, with interdisciplinary options available. The research component involves producing an original thesis (maximum 40,000 words) worth 48-54 units of credit on an approved topic, demonstrating innovative investigation or development work.
