The Graduate Certificate in Arts (Advanced) is a 50-credit program focused on a single specialization area. Available full-time (or part-time exclusively for domestic students), this certificate provides a concentrated academic pathway. Every program features unique admission criteria and curriculum design, detailed in the Handbook. These programs are delivered full-time (with part-time options restricted to domestic students).
This program comprises advanced coursework that treats history as both a discipline and vocation, covering diverse subjects and methodologies. Participants enhance their understanding of historical eras, geographic contexts, and thematic studies; learn historians' approaches to historical writing; and develop skills in analyzing primary sources while formulating and assessing historical arguments. The curriculum includes research papers grounded in original investigation, cultivating valuable competencies in research, critical thinking, written and verbal communication, and persuasive argument development.
