Drawing on UNSW Art & Design's expertise in providing top-tier postgraduate education for arts professionals, the Master of Curating and Cultural Leadership (MCCL) was developed through comprehensive industry collaboration. With a proven track record of producing visionary graduates, our alumni hold positions at prestigious institutions like the Smithsonian, Carriageworks, and MAAS. Ideal for those wanting to examine various aspects of curation and cultural leadership, this degree offers hands-on experience with galleries, libraries, museums, and other cultural organizations. Our program is delivered in partnership with UNSW Galleries and numerous national and international creative industry partners, providing integrated, collaborative learning experiences throughout your studies. Whether you come from arts administration, art history, creative practice, or seek to transition into cultural leadership from other fields, this degree offers valuable pathways.
Depending on the level and nature of your prior qualifications, admission to the Master of Curating and Cultural Leadership has three entry points with different duration and units of credit (UOC) required for completion:
2 year program (96 UOC)
If you have completed a Bachelor’s degree in any field (related or unrelated) with a record of academic achievement equivalent to a UNSW credit average (65%), you’re eligible for admission into the full 2 year program. The 2 year program includes a foundational course component in Curating and Cultural Leadership.
1.5 year program (72 UOC)
If you have completed a Bachelor’s degree in a related field with a record of academic achievement equivalent to a UNSW credit average (65%) you’ll be granted admission into the 1.5 year program.
1 year program (48 UOC)
If you have completed an Honours degree in a related field, you'll be granted admission into the 1 year advanced disciplinary component of the program.
English Language Requirements:
IELTS: 6.5 overall (min. 6.0 in each subtest); TOEFL IBT (Internet Based): 90 overall (min. 23 in writing, 22 in reading, listening and speaking); Pearson (PTE - Academic): 64 overall (min. 54 in each subtest); C1 Advanced Cambridge: 176 overall (min. 169 in each subtest); C2 Proficiency Cambridge: 180 overall (min. 180 in each subtest); UNSW Global University English Entry Course (UEEC): Successful completion with a minimum overall grade of C+ and a minimum grade of C in the writing component.
