The joint Doctor of Philosophy/Master of Psychology (Forensic) program focuses on research training in forensic psychology and includes three mandatory elements: (1) an original PhD research project, (2) coursework, and (3) professional practice. The research component must produce novel findings that advance understanding of psychological processes, especially in forensic contexts. This dual-degree program takes at least four years of full-time study and provides specialized research training applicable to forensic psychology. Accredited by APAC as the fifth and sixth years of psychology education, it qualifies graduates for APS membership and PsyBA registration. Program alumni can join the APS College of Forensic Psychologists as Associate Members. With an additional 1.5 years of supervised practice, graduates may apply for full membership and Forensic Psychologist endorsement.
