The Department of Audiology and Speech Pathology provides a two-year, full-time Master of Clinical Audiology program. This degree has served as the professional entry requirement since 1998. Audiology focuses on diagnosing and treating hearing and balance disorders through clinical science. Hearing evaluations employ specialized tests to pinpoint issues within the auditory system, with audiologists frequently collaborating with ear specialists (otologists). Rehabilitation for hearing loss involves assisting individuals through hearing aid fittings, cochlear implant technology, device training, and developing alternative communication strategies. This field appeals to scientifically-minded individuals who enjoy patient interaction. Exceptional students may qualify for PhD opportunities within the department.
In order to be considered for entry, applicants must have completed:
an undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline (Science, Health Sciences, Biomedicine, Linguistics, Phonetics, Psychology, Music), or equivalent; and
English language requirements:
IELTS (academic English Only): 7.0 (written 7.0 and no band less than 7.0)
TOEFL Internet-based test: 94 + ; Writing 27; Speaking 24; Reading 24; Listening 24;
Pearson Test of English Academic: 65 + no communicative skill below 65
Cambridge English: Advanced/ Certificate of Advanced English (CAE): 185 + no skill below 185.
