The Bachelor of Science (BSc) program offers comprehensive scientific training spanning diverse fields of science and technology, equipping students with versatile knowledge and skills to advance their academic pursuits. This degree creates adaptable career opportunities, pathways to research-based advanced degrees, and access to numerous professional graduate programs.
The Animal Science and Management specialization replaces the previous BS (Hons) Animal Science and Management program under the Faculty of Veterinary and Agricultural Sciences. This major focuses on understanding the biology of domesticated and captive animals, their welfare, management, and utilization for food production, textiles, recreation, and companionship. Students will explore animal biology in depth while evaluating ethical considerations surrounding animal care and resource use in relation to human progress. The program enables specialization through focused study on specific animal species or classification systems. Students may also expand their expertise in economics, business, communications, or natural resource management—complementing core animal science studies—through structured pathways within the Melbourne model curriculum. Graduates will be prepared for careers in public or private sectors involving animal production, environmental science, biomedical fields, service industries, or community organizations focused on public welfare, as well as for postgraduate studies at master's or doctoral levels.
