As a computer science research student, you can choose to explore your own specialized topic or collaborate on one of our established research fields. RMIT's achievements are reflected in global university standings, with our computer science and information systems programs ranked #10 nationally and within the top 200 worldwide according to QS Rankings by Subject 2024. We also placed in the top 150 in ShanghaiRankings by Subject 2022 and ranked 124th globally (top 150) in the 2022 NTU World University Rankings.
The Australian Research Council has rated our Artificial Intelligence, Image Processing, and Information Systems research as exceeding world standards in their Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA) evaluations. Graduates can pursue university teaching careers, take on leadership and research roles in government or industrial labs, or launch tech startups. Our alumni have secured executive positions with major organizations like SENSIS, Seek, CSIRO, and Tinder.
