For those who have finished an accredited three-year psychology bachelor's degree, the Graduate Diploma in Psychology fulfills the fourth-year accreditation needed to register as a provisional psychologist in Australia. This program offers an alternative to an honors year for aspiring registered psychologists who have completed their three-year undergraduate psychology degree or equivalent, meeting the educational requirements for provisional registration or further master's studies. Applicants in their final undergraduate psychology semester can request an early conditional offer based on current academic performance, requiring a minimum 2.0 GPA in all psychology units. A three-year Bachelor's degree in Psychology accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council or Australian Psychological Society-approved alternative, completed within the last 10 years. Some students may be required to complete additional units to satisfy specified unit prerequisites.The Academic Chair will consider applications and recommend students for admission based on an assessment of the student's preparedness to cope with the Graduate Diploma in Psychology, and on current teaching resources available to the school. Normally only students with a credit average or better in their undergraduate psychology units will be considered. In some cases, the Academic Chair may recommend a student for admission, but require the student to complete additional designated Murdoch units offered in earlier years than the fourth year.Quota: The number of students accepted into the course will be determined on a semester-by-semester basis, and will depend upon available resources.
English Language Requirements: Academic International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with an overall 7.0 with no band below 7.0; TOEFL 94 with no band less than 24; Pearson Test of English (PTE) 68 with no band below 68; Cambridge Advanced English (CAE): 185 overall with no band below 185; Occupational English Test (OET): OET with a B (350-440) in the four components.
