Nutrition has a significant impact on health and wellness. With Australia's healthcare industry expanding, there's increasing need for nutrition experts who grasp both the fundamentals and scientific principles of nutrition, along with its connections to age-related diseases and contemporary lifestyle factors. If you're enthusiastic about food's potential and nutritional science, La Trobe's Bachelor of Nutrition Science provides the essential knowledge to launch your ideal career in promoting individual and community health. This thoughtfully structured program offers a thorough grounding in food and nutritional science, covering biological sciences, the interplay between diet, illness and society, and the significance of dietary needs. You'll gain practical experience in professional kitchens and state-of-the-art laboratories, with opportunities to specialize in areas like sports nutrition, food technology and gastronomy, or nutrigenomics.

Develop strong written and verbal communication abilities for diverse contexts, including digital proficiency, to clearly convey information, expertise and concepts. Evaluate scientific literature to facilitate evidence-based nutrition approaches that integrate health statistics, nutritional epidemiology techniques and statistical analysis. Assess challenges and devise creative professional solutions that account for cultural and social influences on dietary habits and food accessibility within evolving nutritional and healthcare landscapes.
Graduates can pursue careers in numerous fields such as public health initiatives, governmental organizations, community wellness programs, food production and innovation (including product development, food technology and quality control), scientific research and media communications.
