The Gender, Sexuality and Diversity Studies (GSD) program investigates how physical forms and personal identities are classified and experienced within societal, political, and moral frameworks. Through this major, students analyze the intricate connections between biological sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, race, citizenship, socioeconomic status, and physical ability. The curriculum engages with key ideas, issues, and viewpoints arising from feminist, LGBTQ+, anti-discrimination, and postcolonial activism, developing competencies in analytical reasoning, persuasive communication, media evaluation, historical/sociological research, and legal analysis. What distinguishes the GSD program is its interdisciplinary approach, enabling students to examine multiple viewpoints while gaining versatile knowledge and transferable skills valuable across career paths, community engagement, and personal development.
