A Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) represents Griffith University's highest-level research qualification. This program allows you to delve deeply into a specialized research area that aligns with your academic interests. Throughout your studies, you'll be tasked with creating an innovative research initiative while benefiting from expert supervision. The PhD qualification is granted upon completion of either a thesis or comparable research work, conducted autonomously with supervisory support, which demonstrates meaningful and novel advancements in its academic discipline as evaluated by internationally recognized authorities.
An applicant for admission as a PhD candidate shall hold:
   a Bachelor degree with first-class honours or second-class honours (Division A) or a Masters degree, incorporating a significant research component, from a recognised institution; or
   a record of research, or a qualification granted by a professional or other body deemed by the Dean, Griffith Graduate Research School, to be of a standard comparable to a Bachelor degree with second-class honours (Division A).
