This program equips students for careers in primary or secondary education. The curriculum begins with a foundational year, followed by specialization in either primary or secondary education starting in Year 1 Trimester 3. The program includes hands-on professional practice involving school observations, teaching practice, and community field studies. Graduates qualify for registration with the Queensland College of Teachers. The Early Childhood Major is accredited by the Australian Children's Education and Care Quality Authority. Career opportunities include teaching positions in Queensland's independent, Catholic, and state school systems, as well as international schools, with potential advancement to leadership roles like department head or principal. Alternative career paths include positions in corporate training, government education programs, outdoor education, adult literacy programs, library services, educational research, policy development, or consulting.
